Win rate and phases

Win rate is OpenDota's count of public games over the last 7 days, Turbo left out, read on 3 October 2026. It starts at Legend and above, where games are about half of all pubs; switch to all ranks or Ancient and above under Win rate. A game's rank is its players' average medal.

Early, mid and late come from OpenDota's records of about 250,000 league and tournament games across many patches, grouped in 5 minute blocks, so early runs from 10 minutes. They show when a hero tends to win, not this week's pub results.

Roles

Positions are worked out from OpenDota's public match data, all ranks. Lanes come from parsed games of the last 4 weeks: mid lane games count as position 2. In the safe lane and off lane, the core is the player taking the last hits, so each hero's last hits per minute are compared with heroes that nearly always play one position. That gives the hero's core share in those lanes: safe lane core is position 1 and its support 5, off lane core is 3 and its support 4. Shares are estimates, so treat a few points either way as noise. A star means the lanes rest on fewer than 500 parsed games.

Second role shows if it covers at least 12 percent of games. Main role only makes the position buttons ignore second roles.

Valve tags and RainbowCape tags

Valve's Durable, Initiator and Pusher tags are yes or no and haven't kept up with hero changes. RainbowCape rates Durable and Initiator from 0 to 3, and splits pushing into Wave clear, Siege and Map mobility, with Escape as its own tag. Valve's Pusher shows when Tags from is set to Valve. Hover a rating to see why.

Fighting and map tags

Teamfight, Lockdown, Escape, Jungling, Wave clear, Siege and Map mobility are RainbowCape ratings from 0 to 3, judged from each hero's abilities without items. For Jungling and Wave clear, heroes who play position 1 as a main or second role are rated with their usual farming item: Battle Fury, Radiance or Mask of Madness.

Siege is the higher of two levels: the hero's abilities, and how much tower damage it deals in a typical game according to OpenDota (5,000 or more is 3, 3,200 or more is 2, 1,600 or more is 1). Supports rarely get to hit towers, so for them the abilities decide.

Complexity is Valve's own rating from dota2.com, 1 for simple heroes to 3 for complex ones.

Ability tags

Pierces BKB lists crowd control only. Saves allies lists abilities that protect a teammate or move them out of danger. Dispels lists abilities that remove debuffs from the hero or allies. Hover any ability for its in-game tooltip.
